this kosher sandwich needs cheese.

so here is where joey and i part ways...we spent our last days in jerusalem enjoying the markets of the old city, eating ridiculously overpriced lox bagels and having some beers in west jerusalem. the markets throughout this trip are just bursting with color, smells, and life.that spice mountain is shaped by hand and is incredibly detailed.
in a last act of good faith i helped the israeli security at the western wall by letting them hide gun pieces in my bag and go through the securiy checkpoints. (although it didn't help joey get out of the country and i quote: "i was interrogated by two people at the airport, put my bag through the metal detector three times, took my shirt off, relinquished my sandals (got them back though) and they took literally EVERYTHING out of both my bags. but then they sped me through the lines.") above is the security man in front of the wall (blue collared shirt) and the purity police woman (also blue shirt) who runs around the courtyard covering women's arms and legs.
joey outside our hostel in east jerusalem.
hanging out in a bar that has more american flags than i've seen since texas.
adam and josh displaying our really great decision of buying energy drinks and sippy cups of 6 shekel 'alaska' vodka (like those sealed water cups you get on the plane). then proceeding to drink them on the street corner by the store because we're too cheap for bar prices (don't worry mom, there's no open container law in west jerusalem...).
well, after two tall boys of goldstar israeli lager on a park bench, it's time to say goodbye. it's been an epic adventure to say the least and one i'll never forget. i leave tomorrow night for istanbul and joey is already tucked back safe in dc. there really are no words to express spending 24/7 for two months with a great friend, but i'll definitely miss the travel scrabble...
shalom.
